  What's New

We continually upgrade our software.  Please revisit this page to check for new upgrades.

Version 3.11

OnScreen Takeoff is here!

OnScreen Element - This new Element allows you to do on-screen takeoffs using PDF or TIFF drawings rather than using a digitizer. Simply load the PDF or TIFF and then trace in your elevations using the on-screen image as a guide. Highly accurate because you can zoom in to any level and place your elevations exactly.

ZoomTo with scroll-wheel - Zoom in and out to the position of the mouse cursor. This change allows targeted zooming.

Architectural Scale Conversion - Scales entered in architectural format are automatically converted to engineering scale.

Zoom and pan with mouse scroll-wheel - Quickly Pan and zoom the screen using the mouse scroll-wheel and the Ctrl and Shift keys.

Added GroupEdit for turning Text labels into Elevations - Convert all of your selected Text labels into Point Elevations with a single command.

Added GroupEdit for joining Text labels to Point elevations - Assign the elevation value of all selected Text labels to all selected Point Elevations with a single command.

Version 3.03

Sliders Controls Added in 3D View -  The sliders allow rapid changes to the Direction, Zoom, Tilt, and Vertical Scale in the 3D view.

Slider Controls Added in Cross-section View - The sliders control the location of the cross-section on the plan and allow the cross-section to be moved rapidly.

Clone Text Labels as Point Elevations - A right-click option for Text labels has been added to allow them to be cloned as Point elevations.

Cut and Fill Colors Changed to Red and Blue - The colors for the Cut and Fill screen have been changed to make the cut and fill areas more distinct.

X-Section Locator Graphic Added to the Cross-Section View - The location of the currently displayed cross-section is now displayed in a graphic in the lower right corner of the Cross-section view.

Version 3.02

Clone Point-to-Point Lines as Subgrades - Added "Clone as Subgrade" option to the Point-to-Point Editing Menu. This allows a user to clone a single Point-to-Point line as a Subgrade Area. This relieves the user of having to retrace the Subgrade Area after the curb lines are added.

Improved Object Selection - Selecting drawing objects is easier. They no longer toggle as quickly between selected and un-selected.

Improved Right Click Menu - The right-click editing menu now appears next to the mouse rather than in the upper left of the screen.

TrakwareOnline.com Integration - Added links to the www.TrakwareOnline.com site from the Help menu.

Version 3.01

Discover the New Power In EarthWorks

New calculation method-The new version of EarthWorks uses "Delaunay Triangulation" to build the existing and proposed surfaces. The advantages of this method are much better surface calculations, especially when using Point Elevations, and more precision in knowing the exact elevation at any point. This new method also increases the speed, and requires less memory, for jobs covering large areas.

Copy Proposed Point-to-Point Left or Right-This right-click function allows you to copy a Point to Point line to the left and/or right. This option is good for creating road edges from centerline data, or for copying curb lines

Autostaking -The new program can now lay an array of stakes at regular intervals across the drawing. You can specify the starting coordinates, ending coordinates, and spacing as well as constraining the stakes to within Perimeters. This saves you from the tedium of manually staking the site.

New Staking Report Options-The Staking Report has been significantly expanded and improved. It now gives you the option of "Polar coordinates (Angle, Distance)" or "Cartesian coordinates (Northing, Easting)" for the stake location. It also allows you to select the kind of data at the stake’s location such as Proposed Elevations, Proposed Elevations minus Subgrades, Proposed Elevations minus Subgrades minus Topsoil Respread, Cut/Fill and Existing Elevation.

Plus Many more features like:

Also included in V3.01e

Import of Total Station Data - (Pro Only) This allows a user to import a data file from a Data Collector

New Color Map Sidebar-A new sidebar is now displayed to show elevation information when you are viewing a color map.

Cropping Tool- A basic cropping tool has been added that allows you to crop drawing objects to a rectangular area. This is useful when importing AutoCAD files that contain existing elevations covering a much larger area than your work area.

Faster Drawing in the 3D View-The 3D only draws as much detail as will fit on the screen.

More Color Maps-Subgrade and Demolition color maps have been added.

New Surfaces on Cross-Sections-The Cross-section now shows both the Proposed and Existing Surfaces as well as the Subgraded and Demoed surfaces.

Restore Last Drawing Placement-When a drawing is saved in Earthworks and then reloaded, the program offers you the option to reuse the last drawing placement points.

And many more…

Version 2.02

"Show Me!" Videos

This new feature allows you to display mini training videos from within EarthWorks.  These videos take you through each of the features of EarthWorks in a series of easy to follow steps.

Version 2.01

Merge Drawing Feature

Use Matchlines to Merge Drawings into a single file.

This new feature allows you to merge multiple drawings together to form a master drawing.  This will allow you to calculate the takeoff on the WHOLE job and not just the individual pages.

Rock Report

New Rock Cut View

This new feature allows you to view your rock cut depths on-screen and to print them.  This will allow you to see exactly where your rock excavation will occur.

Rock in Trenches

This new feature prints the volume of rock that will need to be excavated in your trenches.

EarthWorks Pro and EarthWorks

Version 2.0 (Pro only)

EarthWorks Pro can now import AutoCAD drawings. You can now easily import both DWG and DXF AutoCAD format files allowing you to greatly reduce or eliminate the digitizing stage of entering your drawing.  If you would like to order this upgrade for EarthWorks please click here.

Version 1.70

EarthWorks now calculates over-excavation.  Whether you are calculating a constant depth of overex under your building pad, overexing a constant depth off our your existing grade, removing an unsuitable strata layer, or overexing and re-compacting a native fill, we have you covered.  No other software does it as easily as EarthWorks!

EarthWorks Pro and EarthWorks On-line Training

Trakware now offers on-line training.  Hour long block can be ordered for only $50 per hour.  If you would like to learn more about your EarthWorks Software or just need a refresher course please sign up for a training by clicking here.

New features coming soon for EarthWorks Pro:

Improved Staking

This improvement will allow stake information to be presented in several new ways.  The stake position will be displayed in either polar coordinates or as Northing-Easting co-ordinates.  The elevation at the stake position can be displayed as cut/fill depth or elevation with and without topsoil.

Import / Export from Field Instruments

This new option will, initially, allow you to import surveying information.  The information will be imported as either Existing or Proposed Point Elevations.  Later versions will allow you to export the staking data directly into your field instruments.

TrenchWorks
Version 1.10

Now print your reports by depth bands.  This new report allows you to print your trench excavation in a report that shows the total length of each kind of pipe segregated into different depth bands.
